LEGACY GIVING

Leave a Legacy

Your will or trust document provides a clear and specific understanding as to how you want to transfer your assets to the people you love - and those charitable organizations that you have supported during your lifetime.

As the ultimate charitable gift, you can make a bequest to NAMI Maryland in your will or living trust to ensure the strength and success of our education, advocacy, and public awareness programs for years to come.

A simple bequest or trust is neither limited to the very wealthy nor is it complicated to implement!

Sample Language

Your will is an important part of an effective estate plan.  It directs - clearly and specifically - how you want to transfer your assets.  Once you've determined that you would like to make a bequest to NAMI Maryland, the charitable bequest language that might be used in your will or revocable living trust might sound like:

  • Unrestricted: "I give, and bequeath to NAMI Maryland, located at 10632 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 454, Columbia, MD 21044 the sum of $_______ or _________ percent or (real or personal property herin described) to be used for the general purpose of the organization, at the discretion of its Board of Directors."

  • Restricted, to support a particular program or area of interest to you: "I give, devise, bequeath to NAMI Maryland, Inc. located at 10632 Little Patuxent Parkway, Suite 454, Columbia, MD 21044, the sum of $_______ or ______ percent or (real or personal property herein described), to be used for the purpose of _______________________."

Recognition

Once you have named us in your will, please notify NAMI Maryland at 410-884-8691 or email dfletcher@namimd.org so we can provide you with special recognition as a member of the Chesapeake Circle.  As a legacy supporter, you will receive invitations to exclusive NAMI Maryland events, as well as a free subscription to NAMI Maryland's quarterly print newsletter and other benefits.
